About Christine Green

In her own words....

"I am a successful therapist (of seven years standing) in my own right and have helped many people through many difficulties over the years.

I have been personally trained by Valerie Austin in Advanced Structured Hypnotherapy. All Austin therapists receive ongoing training and I am currently a trainer with Austin Training.

Your mind is like a computer. As an Austin trained therapist I am like a skilled computer programmer and I can help you to reprogramme your subconscious and make the changes you require."

Christine’s Personal Statement

Christine Green

The most important thing I can tell you about me is that I began learning about the mind experientially when I was twenty-five.

I’ve continued to explore this fascinating subject ever since.

Early in my training I met a man who’d studied many different systems - he had an ease as a therapist that I admired, and I resolved to have that ease myself.

History

I spent two years studying experientially with Landmark Education, a personal growth institute, two years studying experientially with Roger Woolger, a well-known psychodrama teacher, two years with Anthony Robbins, one of the world’s leading coaches, three years having hypnoanalysis with a colleague of mine, with a view to learning more about how the mind works from an experiential point of view.

I spent two years with the same colleague using the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). There’s no technique which I’ll use with you that I don’t have firsthand experience with. I know how to relate to what’s going on inside you.

My Training

I’m a qualified Consultant Hypnotherapist, and doctors send me their patients when they believe I’ll be able to help them.

I trained first with the Atkinson-Ball School of Hypnotherapy where I learned advanced hypnotherapy, then with Valerie Austin, where I learned the Austin Technique of Advanced Structured Hypnotherapy, and Valerie’s specialist technique for Stop Smoking, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Emergency Hypnosis and nth Phase (super-depth hypnosis).

Specialist Training

I’ve also trained with Brandon Bays and am an Accredited Journey Therapist.

I’ve trained with Joseph Riggio in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) combined with hypnosis.

I’ve trained with Dr. Barry Neale in another specialist technique for Stop Smoking.

As well as general hypnotherapy, I’ve trained with Sid Jacobson, a leading American NLP and hypnosis teacher.

I’ve studied Medical Hypnosis with James Pool the first teacher in the UK of medical hypnosis for non-medical professionals. I’ve studied coaching. I’ve studied healing with many teachers and am an attuned Reiki Master who uses Reiki on herself every day.

The Art of Right Questioning

I have also created my own therapeutic procedure which I call The Art of Right Questioning. This is a system which enables people to uncover the hidden motives which drive their unwanted behaviours, thus putting them in a position where they’re informed and can choose to change. I’m currently writing a book about this procedure.

Wellbeing Consultancy

Wellbeing Consultancy is the private practice of myself and my partner, Nigel Skinner. We see most of our clients at our office off Winchester Street in Basingstoke (map/directions) and the remainder at our home (especially some of the children who sometimes like the added help of our cat sat on their lap as we work).

What I Do

I personally help people though all kinds of problems.

As long as my clients have an overwhelming desire to achieve their outcome, we’ll achieve it. Good therapy isn’t magic, although results can be magical!

Output depends on input. Not every session produces an instant result. But the client who says, “I’m determined to do this” even when nothing seems to be happening,” will always get a phenomenal result.

Their subconscious will work with me because they want the result so badly.

Individual Therapy

I work with clients in an individual way because we’re all individuals. I often turn
people around in four to five weekly sessions, but it depends on what they come to me for.

Our Stop Smoking programme works differently. It’s possible to stop smoking in one session, and we provide a free backup service for those small number of people who need it.

How Often Do I See Clients?

Some people come to me when they’re very traumatised indeed, after a sudden shock, trauma, unexpected break-up or loss; I work with them more frequently to begin with, and then I see them less often - for as long as it takes to get them back on their feet again.

Some people come to me because they have a long-standing and complex problem.
I may continue to see them once a week or once a fortnight for anything from three months to three years.

Length Of Therapy Sessions

Sometimes people have a great deal of fear associated with their problems and this can lengthen the time it takes to unravel them. Sometimes people have disassociated themselves from their feelings and thoughts relating to a traumatic event or series of events they’ve experienced. This too can make therapy more lengthy.

There are also times when circumstances are right and we sort out a problem in one go. I really do work with people on an individual basis. I believe in educating people to understand what makes them behave the way they do, so they can change their behaviour if they want to. I believe in giving people tools and helping them to develop skills which they can go on and use for the rest of their lives.

Teaching

As well as seeing clients on an individual basis, with Nigel I teach Reiki courses (levels I, II, III and Teachers). We also teach The Art of Right Questioning, both to individuals and couples so that they can use it to resolve conflicts within their relationships. We also teach this to parents and their children, for the same purpose, and to small businesses to help them with conflict resolution.

Shared Commitment

We do our very best to make sure that no client leaves our office in an unresourceful state, and we work on the premise that if you resolve the history, the mind can reconnect with the resources it already has to cope. A problem is never what it seems, no matter how it looks.

I’ve been in this field for twenty-five years and I’ve been a practising therapist in London and then Basingstoke for fourteen years, with clients sometimes coming to see me from London, Cambridge, Glastonbury, Cornwall, the USA, Australia and many other places.

If you will be responsibile for your own success, believing that you will either get the outcome you are looking for, or that you will discover that some part of your own mind is preventing you from doing so, no matter how difficult it may sometimes seem to you, then your subconscious mind and mine will be able to work together to outwit your unconscious fears, traumas, defenses and sabotage mechanisms and achieve what you want with ease.
