Hypnotherapy ServicesFears and PhobiasWhat Is A Phobia?People suffer from many different kinds of fears and phobias, and to varying different degrees. Some people have common phobias like spiders, snakes, cats, dogs, insects, birds, water, being in confined places, going outside or heights. Some people’s fears are more unusual like cooked vegetables, food that’s good for you, oranges, trains, being sick, travelling along steep banks, being alone, ticking clocks, or the number four.
How Fears DevelopPeople can develop fears about almost anything. They can be a little bit anxious about the thing which frightens them or so enthralled by it that they’re almost magnetically drawn towards it.
Examples of common fearsExamples are things like extreme vertigo where the
sufferer is drawn towards the edge of a rooftop, cliff or stairwell and feels a
compulsion to throw themselves over, or a severe fear of water where the sufferer
feels that if they go under water they won’t be able to stop themselves sinking to the
Irrational AvoidanceIn every case the sufferer will know that their behaviour is irrational, and they will sometimes be quite cross with themselves for doing it. However, they will have no choice but to try to avoid even potential contact with the thing that frightens them. This avoidance can be slightly irritating, for instance avoiding a particular street because of the pigeons sat on the roof tops there. It can be quite debilitating, like the person who can not go into a restaurant for fear of getting sick or who can not dig the garden for fear of seeing a worm. It can even be seriously debilitating, like the person who can not go outside at all.
How Phobias OriginateFears and phobias can come from something as simple as a misplaced phrase or idea lodged somewhere in the unconscious mind. They can be caused by a mix up between a past fear and a stimulus which got inadvertently linked to it. They can come from a forgotten or a well-remembered trauma, or they can even be inherited, copied from a significant person such as a parent, idol or role model.
How We Can HelpYou don’t have to live with them. Even the most severe fears and phobias can be released with our unique combination of hypnotherapy and EFT. We use EFT to weaken the attachment the mind has to its defences, and to begin to release some of the emotional charge that keeps the fear in place. Then we use hypnosis to find out exactly what has caused the fear and to retrain the mind to respond to the stimulus without fear.
Our Hypnotherapy ProgrammesOur programme consists of three to five sessions and costs £450-00. After an initial session of two hours, the remaining sessions are weekly and last between an hour and a hour and a half.
The First SessionDuring the first session we look into your history, establish the nature of your
particular problem, and identify the specific outcomes you want from working with us. The suggestions we use to take you into hypnosis will be recorded and given to you so you can practise and get used to the experience.
The Second SessionFrom the second session onwards, we work directly with your subconscious mind, using EFT alongside hypnosis, as a means to assist you to have more co-operation from your subconscious and less resistance to change. At each of these sessions, we help you to deal with the beliefs and emotions which are making things difficult for you. We help you update the programming which is driving you, and modify the habits and behaviours which no longer serve you.
The Third SessionVery often by the third session you’ll notice a marked improvement or even find that your problem has been fully resolved. The remaining sessions can be used to tidy up any remaining loose ends, or be postponed if you feel you would benefit from some reinforcement later on.
Extreme/Complex PhobiasIn some cases, where a fear or phobia is very severe, or there are multiple phobias, we may feel that more sessions are required to get the result. If we are sure that you have the commitment to keep coming for your sessions, we may (at our discretion) reduce the per-session charge. This will be established and agreed at the first
